Member Spotlight: Rakhee Jasani
✨COCOON MEMBER SPOTLIGHT✨
Meet Rakhee Jasani...
Q1: What prompted you to start your own business?
I spent many years co-founding and running an arts and education charity. When I stopped, I had no intention of setting up another business. However, my own long-standing interest in yoga and Qigong led me to train as a teacher, and one thing led to another!
I’ve been practising yoga for over 30 years and Qigong for over 15. Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice, rooted in Chinese medicine, that brings together gentle, flowing movement, breath, focused attention and stillness to work with the body’s energy. My teaching has grown out of my own practice and a longstanding interest in the connections between body, mind, creativity and how we experience the world.
Q2: Tell us a bit about what you do
I’m a Qigong teacher based in Bournemouth, with classes and workshops in Boscombe, Southbourne and Christchurch. The practice is unhurried, offering a way to get to know your body a little better, look after your health and find some space in an ordinary day.
I’m especially interested in making Qigong welcoming to people with different needs and abilities, including older adults and people living with persistent pain or fatigue. My regular classes are light-hearted and playful, while remaining rooted in the seasons and the principles of Chinese medicine. I also run workshops and courses on themes such as menopause and fibromyalgia.
I’m beginning to offer teacher training and teaching circles for people who want to share Qigong themselves, and I’m developing ways to bring the practice online.
Q3: Where can we find out more?
You can find out more about my classes, workshops and approach to Qigong at rakheejasani.com. You can also Find me on Facebook or on my Business Facebook Page or Instagram. If you’re local, come and try a class!
Q4: And finally, why do you like being a member of The Cocoon
I joined Cocoon because I wanted to connect with other people building businesses in a thoughtful and sustainable way, and I really appreciate the emphasis on capacity. I love that everyone is so different, and I’m learning a lot from the recorded training in the vault as well as enjoying the feeling of community. It feels like the best of both worlds: having the flexibility to work independently while also being part of a group that shares ideas, learns from one another and supports each other.
