What does a 'life-friendly business' look like for you?Apr 05, 2021
The other day my husband and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go for a dog walk, right in the middle of our work day.
An ice cream van came by, and it made me chuckle as the kids are always desperate to see one and we never do!
And then I thought, hang on, why can't *we* get ourselves an ice cream? The kids don't *have* to be with us for us to do that!
So we did!
Then we walked down to the beach, enjoyed some fresh air, and returned home to work.
This is what 'life-friendly' means to me.
I run my business on my terms. If I need to take time off to take my child to a hospital appointment, I schedule it in. If I don't want to take calls during school holidays, I block out the time in my calendar and manage my client's expectations. If I fancy getting some fresh air and going for a walk, I go.
As I write this it's a Friday, and I'm tired. I didn't realise how tired I was until the last-minute-lost-pe-kit really riled me. So today I'm taking it slow. I'm working on what feels good.
And for the rest of the time, I'm giving myself grace....
